Ancient oak dining table

It never ceases to amaze me just how amazing this ancient oak dining table is, the slab used for this table came from an ancient oak believed to be 500 years old.

We were lucky enough to purchase 3 slabs from somerset and because we always use reliable timber outlets, we know it was simply blown over in a summer storm and stood on the outskirts of chewton Mendip in somerset.

It was a privilege to work on this amazing Ancient oak dining table and humbling to think that it was nearly 100 years old at the time the fire of London ravaged the city.

I simply find it inconceivable that so many people purchase tables made from teak and other exotic timbers that have been felled to make way for palm oil plantations instead of an English ancient oak dining table, so many of these companies say that the timber is reclaimed, well if reclaimed means destroying our planet then I’m proud to think our pieces are made from timber sourced from managed suppliers and all our slabs come with a certifiable history.

We know this, as our suppliers number each slab and register the date it was sawn, area it came from and why it was felled.
