Our customer requested a slab of solid oak to make a dining room table which was natural edged and highly figured, it will stand on their own designed bespoke metal stand and working with them we are having it fabricated to their exact requirements

As you can see from the picture , we are lucky enough to be able to obtain some of the largest single slabs of English oak / burr, Pippy oak in the country, for those people who have looked in awe at timbers from Australia, American and countries further afield we are able to duplicate their sizes in English timber.

This particular slab of English oak, came from a tree felled in East Sussex some 5 years ago, the size is 3ft 6 inch wide by 16ft in length and nearly 4 inches thick.

I always thought that we were never lucky enough in the UK to come across huge/large slabs of timber that could rival timbers available in the states, however over the years I have been lucky enough to come across some stunning large pieces of timber, none as spectacular as the log I stumbled upon on my latest visit to my supplier in East Sussex.

The log was felled some 5 years ago and the sections available are up to 5ft wide, 4 inches thick and 20 foot in length, the figuring on this English Oak timber is truly spectacular, i have never seen a figuring to this extent on such a huge log.

The patterns, burrs and cats paw markings on this timber rival anything available any where else in the world, the tree was properly nearly 500 years old, i believe this truly a once in a life time opportunity to own this timber, so if you have considered something extraordinary, whether it be a table the full size of the slab or just part, then this would be for you, i will properly never come across timber of this quality again.

Office computer desk, solid wood office furniture, we have been commissioned by a client to make a solid wood natural edge office desk.

After several conversations and e mails it was decided that we construct the office computer desk out of cedar of lebonon, the single solid slab we chose for our client is 1.2m wide and 2.7m long and 100mm thick.

The finished length will be slightly reduced to 2.1m to suit our clients needs.

The office computer slab will sit on two pedistals and finished in high impact varnish and bees wax to give a beautiful honey gold finish.

We are able to obtain huge slabs of timber in many different species

After many hours of work, much of it very labour intensive, we were exceptionally pleased to deliver our office computer cedar desk to our customer in Buckinghamshire, it now sits as a centre piece in his office and we are sure it will give him many years of pleasure, as this slab is finished in such a high impact varnish it will need very little maintenance over the years and the patterner of the timber will increase over time.

We are pleased to announce our work can be viewed at Chimaera Art Gallery, Tontine Street. Folkstone, Kent, from the 2nd of July 2010.

Our first two exhibits are both Scottish Burr elm, both stunningly beautiful with one finished in a specially formulated varnish and hand waxed, with the other finished in a high gloss lacquer.

They both stand on handforged legs made to our own design, unlike most exibits in gallerys we ask you to touch their surfaces and enjoy their beauty and natural edges, both finishes are exceptionally durable and will easily cope with the rigors of day to day life.

Scottish Burr elm is becoming exceptionally rare and difficult to source, so we thought it only fitting that our first two exhibits in the gallery were of this highly figured timber.

We have no older or deeper debt, it is a debt that we can repay and if we stop our all consuming greed we will be able to replant once natural ancient forests and in time many generations on they will once again be truly magical places.

It is so easy to replace this natural resources and we seem so slow to do so, we cannot replace coal stocks,oil stocks or many precious stones resources which nearly all come from trees, but we can replace the starter block, trees.

Natural wood is used in all our day to day life, there is not enough words to explain how important natural wood is, its uses are endless, but maybe take a few minutes to think of this fantastic natural resource that we take for granted and can be replaced for future generations if action is taken as soon as possible.

This natural edge, handcrafted, cedar bar tops surrounds a food preparation area in Hickory smoke house dinner in Chester, it gives prospective customers an idea of just how durable our solid wood bar tops are, not only do they make a stunning ,unique addition to any area but are also hard wearing and durable and become a stunning focal point.

We are regularly asked if we can import timber for bar tops from the states and further afield and the answer is yes, but WHY, when we have such beautiful native timber.

We can supply bar tops in solid sections from many English species up to 65mm thick.

We have just been contacted by a tapas bar  in Westminster, London to supply a natural cedar counter top finished in bar top  lacquer giving it a lovely honey coloured finish, which Will be installed into their restaurant.

The wellingtonia commonly know in Europe/UK is the sequoia or big tree in America and is undoubtedly the larges tree on the planet.

We are exceptionally excited to have obtained 2 huge  solid wood slabs fully seasoned and ready for use, this truly is a once in a lifetime and extremely rare opportunity for us to transform these solid wood slabs into two stunning handcrafted designer dining tables measuring 8ft x 4ft x 5inches.

They will retain their unusual unique natural edge and will sit on 4 large bespoke oak legs, a fantastic combination of 2 extraordinary timbers.

The reason we are so excited about this find is that in America it is illegal to fell or even collect any fallen limbs of the sequoia, so the chances of us ever coming into contact with this timber again is very rare.

The possibilities of free form natural edge furniture are seemingly endless, after delivering our bar tops to a restaurant conversion in Chester, we were asked by a regular customer if we could produce something highly individual for their ensuite shower room.

We selected a 65mm thick solid wood piece of cedar of Lebanon which was machined and treated with several coats of polyurethane varnish and hand waxed making a hard and waterproof vanity top to which a new bowl and pillar tap were fitted.

The vanity top sits on a very simple shelving unit making a very versatile, bespoke and user friendly piece of furniture to a small  area.

As you can see from the variety of things that can be made, if you have an idea of designer furniture,please don’t hesitate in contacting us.

We have been lucky enough to require a highly unique cedar natural edge solid wood slab, it will be transformed into our most unusual bespoke table to date.

We plan on incorporating the slab with plate glass, it will then have four cedar legs fitted to make a truly remarkable  coffee table design and a focal point for any room.

We are planning on clear plate glass but this could be your opportunity to request coloured glass of your choice to suit your surroundings. The size of this piece is 2ft x 5ft.

We have been commissioned by a refurbishment company in Chester to supply approximately 11 linear metres of cedar for a bar top, the pieces we have chosen are solid wood 60 mm thick and will be supplied, mitred with bar top connectors fitted.

Although cedar is a beautifully figured timber being fairly light in colour our customer has requested we stain the finished pieces a much darker colour, probably mahogany or walnut, this will then be finished with several coats of bar top lacquer and burnished to finish.

After a lot of hard work and preparation the bespoke bartops have now been finished and are ready for delivery, the pictures are of the finished item. A true example of handcrafted furniture.
