A simple yet stunning oak kitchen table, based on the same design as their dining table supplied by us previously.

A stunning slab of English Pippy oak only 120cm in length and 62cm at its widest point but still large enough to seat 4 for occasional meals snacks and breakfast.

The oak kitchen table  sits on a handcrafted metal stand , by a local metal fabricator who works with us to produce one off pieces to enhance our timber.

This oak kitchen table  was finished in high impact varnish and hand waxed to give an easy clean maintenance free surface.

A simply beautiful English walnut coffee table  made from a single slab was selected by ourselves for a customer in London.

The walnut coffee table  piece selected was 800mm at its widest and was some 3 metres in length.

As English Walnut is so sought after by furniture makers this was a lucky find, the grain and figuring in this slab is breathtaking, all the annular rings seem to radiate out from a large central knot.

Am extreamly hard wood to machine, a coffee table top that is like granite, simply finished to the customers requirements in two part varnish and bees wax.

The customer also designed their own metal strands which we fabricated to their requirements.

A totally different walnut coffee table that we were more than happy to be a part of, it once again gives you an idea of the diversity of timber at our disposal.

Walnut is one of natures true wonders every piece totally different.

This solid oak coffee table was made at the customers request, during our first converstion with the customer they requested a metal base incorporating a magazine rack, we gave the dimensions to a local blacksmith and he fabricated a magazine rack to the customers exact requirements.

The suface of the oak is finished in danish oil and beeswax which brings out the fantastic features within the oak slab, not only is the peice stunning but highly pratical and being English oak will withstand the vigours of everyday life.

Our customer requested  a Natural edge slab to make a Natural edge dining room table which was  highly figured, it will stand on their own designed bespoke metal stand and working with them we are having it fabricated to their exact requirements

As you can see from the picture , we are lucky enough to be able to obtain some of the largest single slabs of Natural edge English oak / burr, Pippy oak in the country, for those people who have looked in awe at timbers from Australia, American and countries further afield we are able to duplicate their sizes in English timber.

This particular slab ofNatural edge  English oak, came from a tree felled in East Sussex some 5 years ago, the size is 3ft 6 inch wide by 16ft in length and nearly 4 inches thick.

Office computer desk, solid wood office furniture, we have been commissioned by a client to make a solid wood natural edge office desk.

After several conversations and e mails it was decided that we construct the office computer desk out of cedar of lebonon, the single solid slab we chose for our client is 1.2m wide and 2.7m long and 100mm thick.

The finished length will be slightly reduced to 2.1m to suit our clients needs.

The office computer slab will sit on two pedistals and finished in high impact varnish and bees wax to give a beautiful honey gold finish.

After many hours of work, much of it very labour intensive, we were exceptionally pleased to deliver our office computer cedar desk to our customer in Buckinghamshire, it now sits as a centre piece in his office and we are sure it will give him many years of pleasure, as this slab is finished in such a high impact varnish it will need very little maintenance over the years and the patterner of the timber will increase over time.

This natural edge, handcrafted, cedar bartops surrounds a food preparation area in Hickory smoke house dinner in Chester, it gives prospective customers an idea of just how durable our solid wood bartops are, not only do they make a stunning ,unique addition to any area but are also hard wearing and durable and become a stunning focal point.

We are regularly asked if we can import timber for bar tops from the states and further afield and the answer is yes, but WHY, when we have such beautiful native timber.

We can supply bartops in solid sections from many English species up to 65mm thick.

We have just been contacted by a tapas bar  in Westminster, London to supply a natural cedar counter top finished in bartop  lacquer giving it a lovely honey coloured finish, which Will be installed into their restaurant.

The possibilities of free form natural edge furniture are seemingly endless, after delivering our bar tops to a restaurant conversion in Chester, we were asked by a regular customer if we could produce something highly individual for their ensuite shower room.

We selected a 65mm thick solid wood piece of cedar of Lebanon which was machined and treated with several coats of polyurethane varnish and hand waxed making a hard and waterproof vanity top to which a new bowl and pillar tap were fitted.

The vanity top sits on a very simple shelving unit making a very versatile, bespoke and user friendly piece of furniture to a small  area.

As you can see from the variety of things that can be made, if you have an idea of designer furniture,please don’t hesitate in contacting us.

We were contacted through our website by a interior designer that has asked us for help supplying her with some exceptionally unusual timber for a bespoke modern wall art. It will consist of twenty four pieces of hand selected free form timber, once this is commissioned this will become a stunning focal point within the property.

After several e mails to our customer we have now arranged a meeting at one of our suppliers, so that she can hand pick her own individual pieces, due to the fact that she was not really sure on the type of wood she required or indeed the shape or thickness that was needed for her project, these photos are the ideas that she had but did not want all the pieces in the same timber.

After our site visit next we will upload new photos of timber chosen and work in progress.

20.11.09. Today we had a meeting with the interior designer and she has hand picked a number of lengths ofsolid wood Pippy oak timber, this is to be taken back to our workshop and will be worked on for several weeks to achieve a stunning modern wooden wall art/ collage, the timber is to keep all its bark for a natural look and will be finished in wax to allow the wood to move and twist when it is mounted on the wall, which is the look that the interior designer is looking for.                         23.11.09. The picture we have taken does not give any indication of size, however these four pieces are 3 metres in lenght with the largest slab being over 2 foot accross, at present due to their rough sawn finish it is very difficult to see the fantastic figuring and cats paw graining on this English Oak.

The pieces will be treated for boring insects and woodworm prior to sanding and securing the original bark onto the slabs as requested by the customer, so we retain the natural effect the client is after.  It is a process that will take many hours but is totally necessary as the pieces will shrink slightly once introduced to a heated environment

The pieces have now been sanded and the bark has been secured with dowls so that they cannot move or fall off once placed in situe, we are going to finish the pieces in a specially formulated resin to make them appear as if encased in glass.

These are close up pictures of the pieces after they have been sanded and prepared, more pictures will follow once the pieces have been finished.

Now with the pieces finished as shown in the picture above, they will be packaged ready for collection, once installed they will become a fantastic focal point in a Monor house in the midlands.
