We were contacted by a customer to make her a live edge slab bar top for a cellar she was converting into a pub for a Christmas surprise for her husband.

The slab of live edge cedar we supplied was 13ft long x 26 inches at its widest, it was selected from several large live edge slabs of cedar by ourselves and had several characteristic large knots within its length, once polished these became a fantastic feature in the live edge slab.

We also make live edge wood coffee tables, live edge furniture and live edge dining tables.

The possibilities are endless as to the uses of live edge timber.

Our motto, never give up, the more hills we climb the better the view, this year has not been the best year from a business point of view, but for our customers however stuck by us, we would like to take the time to thank you, especially Mark Peaker whom has waited months for a sycamore coffee table, which originally was a cedar slab which was destroyed in the fire the day before delivery.

When an order is placed we do our utmost to deliver, time is taken to find the perfect slab of timber from the smallest to the largest being 4ft x 12ft in size, our customers orders were delayed in the summer when Fletch had blood poisoning and was in hospital for sometime, a small injury in the workshop that within 48 hours became life threatening.

After a short time to convalesce he was back to work even though was told to rest and then on the 16Th of September this year the unthinkable happened, our workshop was destroyed by fire, everything was lost, many years of hard work gone in 30 minutes, tools that had become like old friends lost, but most of all customers orders ready to be delivered and all of our stock of timber, never to be replaced lost.

However after nearly throwing in the towel, we can happily say, we moved premises and have honoured our commitments, the picture below is a sycamore cofffee table on a iron stand with a 10mm glass cover plate designed by our customer, so some things do not happen overnight, however we guarantee that we will work towards your exact requirements, we hope to do this in 2012 with slightly less mishaps.

For our oak dining table on glass, we selected a single 4.7 metre slab of English oak for the project and although a simple concept on paper a slightly tricky one to complete.

The oak dining table on glass is 900mm at its widest point with a 750mm slab leg at one end and a single slab of 10mm toughen glass running the entire length of the oak table top which is over 6ft in lengh, as you can see from the picture the table seems to float in mid air.

We are confident enough to say that we can support any slab dining table in the same way.

The two benches we also cut from the same slab which was at least 300 years old.

As all the grain matches these sturdy but simple oak benches, compliment the floating glass table beautifully.

As you can see a stunning slab of Scottish Burr elm was selected for our customer.

The slab came from our scottis supplier who always excells in his choice of timber and is a passionate as us about timber, so he only supplies the best.

This unusual table sits on 3 bespoke metal stands designed by our customer and the concept of the table is you can have 3 individual side tables, then when needed they can be brought together and used as a single slab coffee table when needed.

This simple yet clever idea can be duplicated in any timber with any stands, a totally different twist on the old fashioned nest of tables we grew up with as children.
